Opportunity description

The University of Sydney is offering scholarships for Postgraduate studies in Complex Systems. Established in 2016, this scholarship has been generously funded by the School of Civil Engineering to encourage and assist students with completing studies in complex systems at the University of Sydney.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. You must have an unconditional offer of admission for the Masters of Complex Systems within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney.
  2. You must have achieved a WAM of 75 and above, or equivalent, in your previous tertiary studies.
  3. All applicants must be commencing their degree in the same Semester and Year the Scholarship is offered.

Benefits:

This scholarship is valued at $10,000 per year for one year only.

Scholarship Terms and Conditions:

  1. The Scholarship value will be paid in two equal installments after the census date of each semester.
  2. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted without the prior permission of Associate Dean (Education) and it is not transferable to another University school, faculty or university.
  3. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
  4. No other amount is payable.
  5. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester.
  6. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.
  7. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
  8. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
  9. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
  • Withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enroll.
  • Commences part-time study without prior approval.
  • Does not maintain satisfactory academic performance.
  • Is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application.
  • Is awarded an alternative primary scholarship. In such circumstances, this scholarship will be terminated in favor of the alternative scholarship where the alternative scholarship is of higher value.
  • Does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.

Selection Criteria:

The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

  1. Academic merit.
  2. A personal statement demonstrating how the scholarship will assist them in completing their studies in complex systems.
  3. The Scholarship will be awarded on the nomination of a selection committee consisting of the Associate Dean (Education) and at least one academic from the School of Civil Engineering Complex Systems Program, or their nominated delegates.
