Opportunity description

SPiN is offering artists from around the world an opportunity to win the SPiN Artist Residency at Pikes Ibiza, Spain. The attending artists will engage in progressive ideas and have mutual dialogue with other international artists. Each artists individualism will shine among a community of artistic fellows while creating art through an autonomous and unrestricted working atmosphere. 

Opportunity Aims:

The SPiN Residency aims to encourage creative, experimental thinking and personal growth of emerging and established visual artists. The residency starts on October 12th to October 26th,2019At the end a group gallery show will be organized for all of the art residents at Pikes and residents may submit artwork to the SPiN Art Residency for sale. 

Eligibility: 

To be eligible for the residency:

  1. you must be an artist aged over 18 of any discipline.
  2. as the residency accepts all forms of artistic approaches including, writers, painters, sketch artists, printmakers, photographers, filmmakers, sound artists, new media artists, sculptors, graphic designers, etc. 
  3. The organizers aim to have an equal mix of emerging and established artists working together, and the conditions are:
    1. Emerging Artist:  Artists should have completed a B.F.A. or M.F.A. program who seek to build upon their confidence in the early stages of their career. You might not have had a major exhibition but you are on your way.  
    2. Established Artist: Established visual artists that have preferably ten years or more of studio practice with major exhibitions under their belt and who has work placed in collections or museums. The residency also welcomes established artists that teach in respected art colleges and universities.

The Fund:

This is a funded residency with little or no cost to the artists. You can expect the following:

  1. Housing: You will have a shared or private room and will be given all the comforts of home.
  2. Meals: There will be one buffet Breakfast every morning at the residency and then a bar for other pre-made salads, sandwiches and drinks for purchase throughout the day.
  3. Studio Space: Residents organically share an open studio space, the residence also have a 9-meter weatherproof geodesic dome that will be available to work in. Residents can work in their studio space for 7 days a week, at all hours.
  4. Staff Support: A  Creative Director and assistants, all of whom are practicing artists will be available for any inquiries with residents regarding work throughout the residency.
  5. Supplies: Each resident is responsible for all of their own supplies such as paint, ink, canvas, wood, glue, clay, hardware, paper, etc.

About the Island of Ibiza and Pikes :

Ibiza is an island in the Mediterranean Sea off the east coast of Spain. It is 150 kilometers from the city of Valencia. Ibiza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Pikes hotel was named as one of the ‘Top 100 Hotels in the world’ by Sunday Times Travel and winner of ‘Best Boutique Hotel’ by the prestigious White Ibiza Awards for three years running, Pikes is saturated in rustic charm and filled with personal touches. The hotel was originally created in the late 1970s by the legendary Tony Pike.
