<p>The University of Bradford in the <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/country/United-Kingdom" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>UK</strong></a> provides Sanctuary <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Scholarships</strong></a> for <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships?bachelor=1" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Undergraduate</strong></a> and <a href="https://www.for9a.com/en/opportunity/category/Scholarships/PhD" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><strong>Postgraduate</strong></a> students who are seeking asylum, or those already granted refugee status who cannot access student finance, to participate in higher education. Courses such as Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, and Radiography will be included in the scholarship this year.</p><h3>Eligibility Criteria:</h3><ol><li>You must be:<ul><li>an asylum seeker or the partner/dependant of an asylum seeker; OR</li><li>an asylum seeker/refugee/partner/dependant who has been granted Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR) or some other form of temporary status; OR</li><li>a refugee who is unable to access student finance due to the previous study.</li></ul></li><li>Have a conditional or unconditional offer from the University of Bradford for September 2020 start.</li><li>For undergraduate study, you have to apply through UCAS for your university place AND to the University of Bradford for the Scholarship by completing the application form. Do not assume that because you have an offer for a course at Bradford that you will be automatically considered for the Scholarship because you will not.&nbsp;</li><li>Postgraduate students will need to apply for a place on a course via the University of Bradford website.</li><li>Currently attending a school, college, community or voluntary group which can provide a reference in support of your application</li><li>Unable to access mainstream funding, e.g. student finance or a local authority grant. Those that are classed as care leavers and previously were under local authority care can however apply</li><li>Live within the Bradford Metropolitan District Council Area, or live within a commutable distance to the University and be able to cover your travel costs yourself, or be able to relocate to Bradford without requiring extra financial support</li><li>Do not require support for living expenses or accommodation</li><li>You are also able to get a scholarship/scholarship funding to attend a Pre-sessional English preparation course if your English language level is not high enough to meet the entry requirements of the University/your course. All students will be assessed on an individual basis.&nbsp;</li></ol><h3>Funding:</h3><ol><li>Tuition Fee Grant: Successful students will be offered a tuition fee-remitted (i.e. no fees) place at university until such time as they are awarded status that entitles them to access student finance (if at all)</li><li>A Travel and Course Costs Grant: Successful students will be offered a &pound;500 a year (per year if applicable) grant to help with travel and course costs</li><li>Personal Support: In addition to fee remission, support will be available for students to enable them to identify and overcome barriers to achievement on their degree program and for their future careers.</li></ol><h3>Bradford University:</h3><p>The University of Bradford is a public university located in the city of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. The university received its Royal Charter in 1966, making it the 40th university to be created in Britain, but its origins date back to the early 19th century. The student population includes 8,045 undergraduate and 2,915 postgraduate students. 22% of students are foreign and come from over 110 different countries. It was the first British university to establish a Department of Peace Studies in 1973, which is currently the world&#39;s largest university center for the study of peace and conflict.
