The University of Birmingham is offering international undergraduate students the opportunity to apply for the Foundation Academic Merit Scholarships 2019-2020 in its campus in the United Kingdom, which aims to build a more diverse and international community of students. All scholarships will take the form of a tuition fee reduction and are only applicable to full-time foundation programs at the University starting in September 2019.
Eligibility criteria:
- Applicants should have accepted their foundation offer from the University and have submitted a scholarship application by 5 August 2019
- Applicants should not be in receipt of any other internal or external scholarship, funding or sponsorship
- Applicants must meet the academic conditions of their offer to the program
- Applicants must start their studies at the University in September 2019
- Applicants must be classed by the University as an overseas fee payer for tuition fee payment, and should be able to fund the remaining costs of their studies at Birmingham from other sources
- Students who firmly accept their offer will be eligible, shortlisted on the basis of academic merit and selected based on their answers to the essay-style questions
- Foundation Scholarships are available only to Foundation Pathway offer holders. To apply you must have accepted your offer for a Foundation Pathway. If you are not currently holding a Foundation Pathway offer or you have not accepted an offer, your scholarship application will not be considered
- The online application form includes general questions about your academic background and includes short, essay-style questions (250 word limit) about academic and extra-curricular achievement
Scholarship amount:
The university welcomes a greater number of students from all around the world by offering a number of scholarships worth £10,000 to students joining the Engineering and Physical Sciences and Medical, Life and Geo Sciences pathways, and £3,000 are open to all students who meet the criteria.
