Opportunity description

The Aarhus Institute of Advanced Studies (AIAS) at Aarhus University in Denmark offers the AIAS-AUFF Fellowships, an international research fellowship program for outstanding researchers from around the world and across all academic and research disciplines.

The fellowship gives researchers the opportunity to develop an innovative research project in an international and interdisciplinary environment in Aarhus, Denmark, while collaborating with researchers and research groups across Aarhus University.

The program places particular emphasis on projects that benefit from interdisciplinary collaboration, encouraging researchers to work across academic fields and develop new research ideas, networks, and collaborations

Benefits

The AIAS-AUFF Fellowship provides selected researchers with a range of benefits, including:

  • A full salary based on experience and seniority, in accordance with Danish collective salary agreements.
  • Coverage of economy-class travel to Aarhus, subject to prior approval.
  • Coverage of fees related to visa and work permit applications.
  • Assistance with relocation and settling in Denmark.
  • Office space, work facilities, and a computer during the fellowship period.
  • Participation in academic courses, conferences, and workshops at AIAS and Aarhus University.

Eligibility criteria

Based on the most recent official call, applicants were required to:

  • Hold a PhD degree.
  • Have at least two years and no more than 10 years of postdoctoral research experience by the application deadline.
  • Be of any nationality, as there were no nationality restrictions.
  • Propose an outstanding and innovative research project.
  • Demonstrate an interdisciplinary dimension or potential within the proposed research.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with relevant researchers or research environments at Aarhus University.
  • Meet the program’s international mobility requirement.

Required Documents and Application Materials

Based on the guidelines for the previous call, the application primarily included:

  • PhD degree certificate.
  • A certified translation if the certificate does not use the Latin alphabet.
  • A CV and publication list, combined in a document of no more than 10 pages.
  • A brief statement outlining the applicant’s academic and professional trajectory and motivation for applying.
  • A Mobility Statement detailing the countries and periods of residence, work, or study during the previous two years.
  • Research field.
  • Between 1 and 5 keywords describing the project.
  • Project title.
  • A short project summary.
  • An explanation of the project’s originality and innovative contribution.
  • An explanation of why AIAS is the appropriate environment for conducting the research.
  • A description of potential collaboration opportunities with Aarhus University.
  • A research project description of no more than 3 pages, including references.
  • A project timeline of no more than one page, such as a Gantt chart.
  • A research budget, only where necessary for projects requiring data collection, laboratory work, or fieldwork.
  • A declaration confirming the accuracy of the information provided, including the mobility information
