Opportunity description

Are you an active member in your community? Do you think that you can positively influence your surroundings and are you looking for a unique opportunity to prove that? Would you like to learn about the activities of the European Union in Jordan and have the opportunity to join a distinguished regional network that brings together young men and women from eight different countries? Do you feel that you have the ability to communicate your own voice and the voice of everyone around you through digital content or any other form of communication?

Within the framework of the European Union’s activities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Regional Communication Program for the Southern Mediterranean Countries, “European Neighborhood – South”, invites young Jordanian leaders of tomorrow to participate in a distinguished panel and interactive dialogue discussion entitled: The European Union in Jordan - Mission, Vision, and Opportunities for Jordanian Youth, in the presence of H.E. Maria Hadjitheo Dosio, Ambassador of the European Union in Jordan. This session will be held in a limited capacity at the European Union headquarters in Jordan on 22 August 2022 at 10 am and will last for approximately three hours.

General details about the session:

  • This dialogue session aims to create an appropriate framework for exchanging views with Jordanian youth on the role and initiatives of the European Union in Jordan. The session also aims to inform Jordanian youth about the opportunities available to them within the framework of the partnership between the European Union and Jordan.
  • Participants will be given the opportunity to ask various questions to the Ambassador and a group of European Union representatives in Jordan, in addition to the opportunity to discuss and exchange views with a selected group of young activists. The session will also provide an opportunity to apply to join the EU JEEL CONNECT Regional Network.
  • The meeting will be filmed for purposes of sharing clips on the social media of the Leaders of Tomorrow, the European Union in Jordan and the “European Neighborhood – South”.
  • If you have questions related to the topics of the session, you can write them in the request to join so that they can be included among the questions that will be asked during the meeting.

Session topics:

Topics that will be raised during the session will revolve around the following:

  • Important basics: What is the European Union? How does it work? What is its role in the countries of the Southern Neighborhood in terms of political, economic and social aspects?
  • Mission and vision in Jordan: What are the missions and visions of the European Union in Jordan? Why is it in Jordan? And what does it aim to achieve?
  • Opportunities for youth in Jordan: What is the European Union doing to support youth in Jordan? What are the main projects and opportunities available to youth in Jordan?
  • Other aspects: Job creation and provision, development of sustainable solutions to the problem of unemployment, climate change and environmental protection, women's issues and youth empowerment, education and vocational training.

Session Activities:

  • The European Union has declared 2022 the “Year of Youth” and calls for the involvement and participation of all young and talented people to help build a better future for all: “a stable, green, inclusive and digital future”. It aims to raise awareness of the EU's commitment to contribute to a better future for youth across the Southern Neighborhood and to support stronger youth participation, that's why the ENP-South is launching a new activity: EU JEEL CONNECT.
  • The network will include countries and territories in the southern neighborhood including Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia and Palestine. Participation in this network will be on a voluntary basis with no financial obligations, and will provide participants with the opportunity to connect and network with a select group of activists in different fields from these countries. Note that the network's activities will be non-political, non-partisan, and non-profit.
  • The network will bring together young people from different cultures to participate in unique and enriching experiences with the aim of networking, sharing and learning. Members will also be encouraged to connect with local communities and help them become familiar with the aspects of cooperation between the European Union and its member countries by presenting the tangible results of this cooperation and its importance for young people.
  •  EU Neighbors South, which is the European Union's regional communication program for the Southern Neighborhood and seeks to inform the public of the various programs and projects funded by the European Union as well as the initiatives and opportunities available, especially for young people in various sectors.
