Opportunity description

Grupo Anaya in Spain has opened submissions for the 24th edition of the Premio Anaya de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil, an international literary competition aimed at encouraging the creation of outstanding works for children and young adults.

This year’s edition focuses on works written in Spanish and intended for readers aged 12 and above, with particular interest in stories that contribute to the personal development of young readers and promote social inclusion, democratic values, and critical thinking.

The winner will receive a €12,000 prize, in addition to having the winning work published by Grupo Anaya. The competition rules specify that the prize amount is paid as an advance against the author’s royalties.

  • Presentation of the winning book around International Children’s Book Day on April 2, 2027.

Eligibility criteria

Participation in the competition is subject to the following conditions:

  • Applications are open to writers of all nationalities.
  • Minors may also participate, but they must include written and signed consent from a parent or legal guardian, along with the guardian’s identification document.
  • Each writer may submit only one work.
  • The work must be written in Spanish.
  • The competition accepts prose works only; poetry and drama are not accepted.
  • The work must be original, unpublished, and not previously made available to the public.
  • The work must not have won a previous award or be submitted simultaneously to another competition.
  • The work must not be subject to any previous or current publishing commitments.
  • Employees of Grupo Anaya and winners of the last five editions of the prize are not eligible to participate.
