Opportunity description
The American University in Cairo (AUC) offers graduate student support grants for research, conference participation and study abroad in 2026-2027. Enrolled graduate students may apply, as may recent graduates planning to present their graduate thesis results at a recognized professional conference; the next application deadline is November 10, 2026.
About the Graduate Student Support Grants
The grants cover three areas: conferences, research and exchange or study abroad. A conference grant helps with expenses for delivering a paper at a recognized conference about research conducted while the applicant was a graduate student at AUC.
Research grants assist with expenses for research conducted for an AUC graduate thesis. Eligible types of support may include supplies, services and data collected or purchased from local or international sources. They may also cover reprints, page charges, manuscript preparation for publication and journal publication costs. Travel expenses may be included where applicable, potentially covering airfare, accommodation, visa fees and health insurance. Minor equipment and software licenses may also be purchased with grant funds, but only with approval from the program director or department chair. Any such equipment or licenses become the property of the program or department at the end of the grant period.
Exchange or study abroad grants assist with airfare and living expenses abroad. Applicants must be accepted as a non-degree student or visiting scholar at an institution with credits transferable to AUC. The stay may last up to one semester, and the opportunity should contribute to completing the applicant’s graduate degree requirements at AUC.
Applications are submitted online to the relevant program or department. The online system is typically available 10 days before each cycle deadline. The four 2026-2027 deadlines are September 20, 2026; November 10, 2026; February 10, 2027; and April 14, 2027. Explore more grants and funding opportunities or browse opportunities for youth.
Who Should Apply
