Opportunity description
The Poet of the Year competition is one of the most prominent poetry contests in the United Kingdom, aimed at discovering poetic talent from around the world and giving them the opportunity to showcase their work to an international audience during the Canterbury Festival.
The competition allows participants to submit original poems in any theme or style, making it an open platform for creativity and literary expression. Selected works are presented and honored during the festival, offering poets valuable exposure and the chance to build a strong literary reputation.
Competition Information
- Open to writers aged 18 and over.
- Submissions can be on any subject and any style but must not exceed 60 lines.
- Only unpublished, original work is accepted.
Benefits
- A £300 cash prize for the winner, sponsored by Professor Geralyn Pinto.
- £150 for second place.
- £75 for third place, sponsored by Posillipo Restaurant, Canterbury.
