Competition: NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award and Chance to Win $15,000

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is calling the bold young researchers for a competition entitled; NOMIS & Science Young Explorer Award. The editors of Science and NOMIS wish to recognize bold young researchers who ask fundamental questions at the intersection of the life and social sciences; scientists who have performed interdisciplinary work with an enthusiasm that has catalyzed cross-field collaboration; researchers who take risks to address relevant and exciting questions with creative approaches, regardless of the research outcome. ​The award is presented for outstanding research performed by the applicant as described in a 1,000-word essay.

If you win in this competition, you will get:

• The Grand Prize Winner: $15,000.
• Runner(s) Up award a cash prize in the amount of US$5,000
• Your essay will be published in Science 
• a 5-year digital subscription to Science,
• Invitation to share your ideas with leading scientists in the respective fields at an award ceremony.
• Provided travel and accommodation to the award ceremony, if applicable.  
• If you win the grand prize, You are automatically eligible to submit a funding proposal on the basis of your essay to NOMIS.

You must be:

1. younger than thirty-five (35) years of age.
2. hold an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D./Ph.D. at the time of entry.
3. The award will be granted annually to one young scientist based on work done in the past 3 years.
4. all majors are eligible (such as psychology, biology, political science, or sociology). 

Please note: All federal, local taxes and any other costs and expenses associated with the receipt or use of the prize are the responsibility of the winner.

Your essay will be judged based on:

• Scientific quality.
• Clarity.
• Style of writing.
