Opportunity description

The Anderson, VCUarts, and the Creative Print Bureau invite active Virginia Commonwealth University students to submit work to Copy/Process, a juried art exhibition in Richmond. Undergraduate and graduate students may apply, with priority given to VCUarts students. The submission period runs from October 20 to November 20, 2026.

About the Copy/Process Art Exhibition

Copy/Process is a juried exhibition presented by the Creative Print Bureau. It pays tribute to the history and character of the bureau as a student service hub, highlighting its past and present. The call connects the bureau’s literal role in producing physical copies through different processes with broader questions about iterations, processes, and copies in art.

Artists are invited to consider how they engage with repetition and making, and to reflect on questions raised in the call: Is anything ever truly finished? What lies on top of the original? What layers become visible when the output is peeled back to reveal what is inside? The announcement describes a copy as an imitation, transcript, or reproduction of an original; one of a series of mechanical reproductions; or matter to be printed.

Submitted work should address the exhibition theme. The mediums should reflect the technologies and capabilities of the Creative Print Bureau, past and present, as much as possible. The call does not state a specific number of works, submission format, or application materials.

Applications open on October 20 and close on November 20, 2026. Notifications are scheduled for December 9. Artwork drop-off is January 19 from 12 to 5 p.m., and the exhibition opens January 22. The exhibition takes place at The Anderson, 907 1/2 W Franklin St., Richmond. Artists looking for similar calls can browse competitions and art calls, as well as other opportunities for young people.
