Food Photography Competition with a Grand Prize of £5,000

The World Food Photography Awards have opened entries for the 2027 edition, an international competition dedicated to food photography and the stories connected to food from around the world.

The competition welcomes work that explores food from many different perspectives, including farming and harvesting, cooking, presentation, markets, family, celebrations, travel, culture, survival, and humanitarian work. It also accepts a wide range of photographic approaches, including documentary, portrait, travel, commercial, and mobile photography.

The 2027 edition includes more than 25 categories. Images by all finalists will be exhibited publicly at Mall Galleries in London, while the overall winner will receive the title of World Food Photography Awards 2027 Overall Winner along with a cash prize.

• The winner of the Award for Innovation receives a £1,400 grant and a 4-week residency with the Hugo Burge Foundation.

• A dedicated feature on the overall winner, with promotion across photography and food media outlets.

• Participants may enter from any country in the world.
• Adult categories are open to applicants who are 18 years old or older when the competition closes.
• Youth categories are open to participants aged 17 or under.
• The competition is open to both professional and non-professional photographers.
• Images must have been taken by the applicant, or submitted on their behalf with their permission.
• An image that has previously won the overall title in another photography competition may not be resubmitted.
• The use of generative AI to create, replace, extend, or substantially reconstruct elements of an image is not permitted.

File Requirements

For the initial submission stage:

• JPG / JPEG / PNG format.
• Maximum of 1920 pixels on the longest side.
• No watermark, signature, or added text.
• Applicants must retain the original high-resolution file, as shortlisted entrants will be required to provide a print-ready file suitable for A2 printing.

Entry Fees

• Adult entrants: £35, including up to 6 images.
• Each additional image after the first six: £7.
• On the Phone category: £7 per image.
• Food Stylist category: £35 for a portfolio of 5 images.
• Marks & Spencer Rising Star category: £35 for a portfolio of 5 images.
• Youth category for entrants under 18: Free, with up to 5 entries allowed.
• RPS Student Food Photographer of the Year: Free, with a maximum of 5 entries.
• UK for UNHCR Food as Home: Free for eligible applicants with refugee or forced-displacement backgrounds.
