The M3EP – Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s in European Environmental Economics and Policy offers a funded master’s opportunity for international students interested in environmental economics, environmental policy, the green transition, and sustainability.
The program lasts two years and carries a total of 120 ECTS credits. Students study at two different European universities. All students complete the first year at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark, while the second year is spent at one of the partner universities in Germany, Italy, Czechia, or Poland, depending on the selected specialization track.
The Erasmus Mundus Scholarship is awarded to the highest-ranked applicants from around the world. It provides a monthly stipend of EUR 1,400 for up to 24 months, equivalent to as much as EUR 33,600, in addition to a full tuition fee waiver.

The program is primarily suitable for applicants with a bachelor’s degree related to fields such as:
- Economics.
- Environmental economics.
- Natural resource economics.
- Political science.
- Public policy.
- Social sciences.
- Economics and related business studies.
- Environmental science and policy.
- International relations and policy studies.
Second-Year Specialization Tracks
Students continue their second year in one of the following tracks:
- Heidelberg University – Germany: Advanced Environmental Economics or Comparative Environmental Policy.
- University of Milan – Italy: Climate Change and Energy Economics.
- Charles University – Czechia: Policies and Politics of Green Transition.
- University of Warsaw – Poland: Economics of Green and Just Transition

Eligibility criteria
Applicants may apply if they:
- Hold a relevant bachelor’s degree, or are currently in the final semester of their bachelor’s studies.
- Meet the academic admission requirements of the program.
- Are able to study full-time.
- Meet the required English language proficiency requirements.
- Comply with the Erasmus Mundus mobility requirements.
- Have not previously received an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Scholarship if they wish to compete for the scholarship.
Required Documents
The main required documents include:
- An official bachelor’s degree transcript.
- An official English translation if the documents are issued in another language.
- A Self-assessment form if the applicant’s qualification does not automatically meet the academic requirements.
- Course descriptions, where required.
- An updated Europass CV.
- The applicant’s GPA, entered according to the official transcript.
- Proof of English language proficiency.
- A copy of the applicant’s passport or official ID.
- Proof of current country of residence.
- A motivation letter in English of approximately 500 words for Erasmus Mundus Scholarship applicants.
- The final degree certificate at a later stage if the applicant is still completing the final semester of their bachelor’s degree at the time of application.
