Opportunity description

The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic offers an excellent scholarship opportunity for international students who wish to pursue full-time undergraduate or master’s degrees at public Slovak universities. The scholarship aims to support talented students worldwide and is aligned with Slovakia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (SK RIS3 2021+).

Available Programs and Fields of Study:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or joint Bachelor + Master programs): 3 years

  • Master’s degree: 2 years

Fields of study include areas listed under the Smart Specialisation Strategy of Slovakia (technology, engineering, healthcare, innovation, environment, etc.).

Benefits

  • Monthly allowance of €500 during the study period (10 months/year)

  • Total support can reach up to €15,000 depending on the program

  • Possibility of full or partial tuition waiver (at the discretion of the university)

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicant must be a non-Slovak citizen

  • No permanent or temporary residence in Slovakia from January 1, 2020 (some exceptions apply, e.g., Erasmus+ or prep courses)

  • Must hold a high school diploma for bachelor’s or a bachelor’s degree for master’s studies

  • Must apply to a full-time study program at a Slovak public university

  • Must submit a motivation letter and CV in English

  • Must submit an SAT certificate with a score of at least 1100 (mandatory requirement)

SAT scores dated between January 1, 2020, and July 31, 2025 are accepted

Required Documents:

  • Valid passport or national ID

  • High school diploma or bachelor’s degree certificate

  • SAT certificate (minimum score 1100)

  • Motivation letter (template available on the application site)

  • Curriculum Vitae in English (template available)

  • Proof of application to a Slovak university

  • Signed declarations (templates provided during the application)

  • If under 18: signed guardian consent form

Additional Notes:

  • Receiving the scholarship does not mean automatic admission to the university; you must apply separately to the HEI.

  • Early communication with the selected university is highly recommended.

  • Keep original copies of all uploaded documents, as they may be required upon enrollment.
