Opportunity description
The Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic offers an excellent scholarship opportunity for international students who wish to pursue full-time undergraduate or master’s degrees at public Slovak universities. The scholarship aims to support talented students worldwide and is aligned with Slovakia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (SK RIS3 2021+).
Available Programs and Fields of Study:
Bachelor’s degree (or joint Bachelor + Master programs): 3 years
Master’s degree: 2 years
Fields of study include areas listed under the Smart Specialisation Strategy of Slovakia (technology, engineering, healthcare, innovation, environment, etc.).
Benefits
Monthly allowance of €500 during the study period (10 months/year)
Total support can reach up to €15,000 depending on the program
Possibility of full or partial tuition waiver (at the discretion of the university)
Public health insurance coverage
Support with visa and residence processes in Slovakia
Safe and student-friendly learning environment
Eligibility criteria
Applicant must be a non-Slovak citizen
No permanent or temporary residence in Slovakia from January 1, 2020 (some exceptions apply, e.g., Erasmus+ or prep courses)
Must hold a high school diploma for bachelor’s or a bachelor’s degree for master’s studies
Must apply to a full-time study program at a Slovak public university
Must submit a motivation letter and CV in English
Must submit an SAT certificate with a score of at least 1100 (mandatory requirement)
SAT scores dated between January 1, 2020, and July 31, 2025 are accepted
Required Documents:
Valid passport or national ID
High school diploma or bachelor’s degree certificate
SAT certificate (minimum score 1100)
Motivation letter (template available on the application site)
Curriculum Vitae in English (template available)
Proof of application to a Slovak university
Signed declarations (templates provided during the application)
If under 18: signed guardian consent form
Additional Notes:
Receiving the scholarship does not mean automatic admission to the university; you must apply separately to the HEI.
Early communication with the selected university is highly recommended.
Keep original copies of all uploaded documents, as they may be required upon enrollment.
