The Austrian association Lendhauer is accepting applications for its 2027 international open call, “Urban Ecologies: Coexistence and Control,” aimed at artists, designers, architects, performance artists, researchers, and interdisciplinary practitioners interested in developing and implementing innovative artistic projects in Klagenfurt, Austria.
The opportunity focuses on exploring the relationship between humans, nature, and technology within urban environments, and how living organisms, technological systems, and public spaces interact in the context of social and environmental change.
Applicants are invited to propose artistic projects that explore concepts such as coexistence, control, conflict, and interdependence within urban environments, using the spatial, social, and environmental characteristics of the Lendhafen area in Klagenfurt as part of their creative approach.
Projects may take a variety of forms, including installations, interactive works, performance art, public-space interventions, experimental projects, and participatory practices.

Benefits

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Be an artist, designer, architect, performance artist, researcher, or interdisciplinary practitioner.
Submit an artistic concept related to the theme “Urban Ecologies: Coexistence and Control.”
The proposed project must be feasible for implementation in the Lendhafen area of Klagenfurt.
Take into account the environmental, social, and physical characteristics of the site.
Clearly outline the materials, equipment, costs, and timeframe required to implement the project.
Explain how the public will interact with or experience the artwork in the public space.
Be willing to collaborate with the organizing team to implement the project within the specified period.
Submit a complete application package clearly presenting the project concept and previous artistic experience.
