The University of Jyväskylä (JYU) in Finland is inviting applications for the JYU Visiting Fellow Programme 2027, a funded research fellowship designed for researchers who hold a doctoral degree and are affiliated with institutions outside Finland.
The programme aims to strengthen international research collaboration by enabling visiting fellows to work closely with researchers at the University of Jyväskylä on joint research projects. Selected fellows will undertake a research visit lasting one to two months during 2027.
The fellowship provides financial support to help cover travel, accommodation, and living expenses throughout the visit. It offers an excellent opportunity to establish international academic partnerships, access the university's state-of-the-art research infrastructure, and contribute to high-quality scientific publications and collaborative research initiatives.
Fellowship Responsibilities
During the fellowship, selected researchers will be expected to:
- Conduct a collaborative research project with their host researcher at the University of Jyväskylä.
- Prepare or further develop joint research papers and academic publications.
- Develop proposals for future research projects or external research funding.
- Participate in relevant scientific, academic, and networking activities at the university.
- Carry out the research according to the agreed research plan with the host department.
- Acknowledge the University of Jyväskylä as an institutional affiliation in scientific outputs resulting from the research visit.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a doctoral degree before the research visit begins.
- Be based at and affiliated with a research institution outside Finland.
- Demonstrate a strong record of research excellence and academic publishing.
- Have a good command of English.
- Contact a researcher at the University of Jyväskylä in advance and obtain their agreement to host the visit.
- Submit an official invitation letter from the host researcher. Applications without this letter will not be considered.
Required Documents
Applicants must submit:
- An updated curriculum vitae (CV).
- An invitation letter from the host researcher at the University of Jyväskylä.
- A research plan of two to three pages.
- A complete list of academic publications, highlighting the five most relevant publications.
- An ORCID identifier, where available.
