Opportunity description

The APJC is offering a long-term individual volunteering opportunity in Les Pavillons-sous-Bois, France, through the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme. Volunteers will support the organization's social, youth, and cultural activities that serve the local community.

APJC is a non-profit organization specializing in popular education and is officially recognized as a Youth and Cultural Centre as well as a Social Centre. Its work focuses on three main areas: social support for families, youth engagement and active citizenship, and recreational and cultural activities.

This is an excellent fully funded volunteering opportunity in France for Arab youth seeking international experience. Volunteers receive free accommodation, a monthly allowance of €500, an unlimited public transportation pass for the Île-de-France region, French language courses, and specialized training in youth work.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing activities for teenagers and young people aged 11 to 25.
  • Support the organization’s social and youth-focused activities.
  • Help design and deliver educational and recreational workshops.
  • Contribute to organizing clubs, courses, trips, and outdoor activities.
  • Support initiatives related to citizenship and community participation.
  • Assist in organizing cultural events and celebrations.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, and discussion sessions.
  • Contribute to activities addressing education and social and economic issues.
  • Support social inclusion programmes and initiatives that improve access to rights.
  • Participate in activities that strengthen relationships between different generations.
  • Help implement activities for families and the local community.
  • Suggest creative ideas for developing new activities.
  • Use digital tools to prepare activities and communicate with young people.
  • Collaborate with APJC staff and other international volunteers.
  • Contribute to promoting solidarity, democracy, and human dignity.

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicants should generally be between 18 and 30 years old, in accordance with the European Solidarity Corps programme requirements.
  • Applicants must be from a country eligible to participate in the project.
  • Applicants should be open-minded and respectful of different cultures and perspectives.
  • Strong motivation and a genuine interest in working with young people are required.
  • Applicants should enjoy communicating and interacting directly with others.
  • An interest in working with teenagers and young adults aged 11 to 25 is essential.
  • Creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to learn are highly valued.
  • Applicants should be able to contribute to designing new activities and workshops.
  • Willingness to work as part of an international team is required.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills are important.
  • Applicants should be ready to participate actively in the organization’s daily activities.
