Opportunity description
QUT Business School is calling secondary school students from all over the world to a competition; BlueShift which started in 2014 and more than 145 teams have participated. This is a business case competition for secondary school students to develop real business solutions for a real business. By participating in this competition, you’ll:
- Apply what you’ve learnt and work in a team on a real-world business case.
- Develop relevant business skills such as professional presentations, Financial analysis and creative problem-solving.
- Gain valuable insights into the business industry.
Benefits
If you are among the winners' teams, you will have:
- First place, each member of the winning team receives:
- A $2,000 QUT scholarship.
- A $250 EFTPOS card.
- A prize pack from the sponsors.
- Your school also receives a $3,000 cash prize from QUT.
- Second place:
- A $100 EFTPOS card.
- A prize pack from thE sponsors.
- Third place:
- A $50 EFTPOS card.
- A prize pack from the sponsors.
Eligibility criteria
You must follow the following criteria:
- To compete in this competition, you must be:
- In Year 10, 11, or 12 and enrolled in high school as a full-time student at the time of the BlueShift finals.
- Given permission by your teacher.
- Enthusiastic about business and networking opportunities.
- Available to participate on finals day, Saturday 21 May 2022.
- Your team must:
- Consist of three to four students in total, from the same school.
- Be accompanied by a teacher if they’re participating in the finals.
- Teams can consist of any combination of students enrolled in Year 10, 11, and 12, and a school can register up to three teams each year.
- The case will be released online and you'll have eight weeks to submit a final written solution.
- Registered teams will be invited to participate in an online coaching session with a member of the QUT Business School Case Competition team.
- A panel of judges will assess the written submissions and choose finalists.
- You will be emailed to let you know the outcome of your submission.

Timeline:
- Registrations open: 4 November 2021.
- Registrations close: 28 February 2022.
- Business case sent to teams: 1 March 2022.
- Written submissions due: 25 April 2022.
- Finalist teams announced: 5 May 2022.
- Champions round: Saturday 21 May 2022.
