Contemporary Talents / Talents Contemporains is one of the international art awards and competitions organized by the Fondation François Schneider since 2011, with the aim of supporting contemporary artists and encouraging artistic creativity worldwide.
The Water – Wattwiller edition is dedicated to artworks that explore the theme of water from different artistic, poetic, geographical, political, and scientific perspectives, and it attracts artists from around the world.
The competition gives selected artists the opportunity to receive awards and funding for the production of artworks, in addition to exhibiting the winning works in a dedicated exhibition at the Foundation’s art center in Wattwiller, France. Selected works may also become part of the Foundation’s art collection, providing artists with international recognition and the opportunity to present their work to audiences and professionals in the contemporary art field.

Benefits
Up to 7 winners are selected in each edition.
Each winner receives EUR 15,000 as a merit-based award and in exchange for the Foundation acquiring the winning artwork.
For photography or video works produced in multiple editions, the award amount is EUR 8,000.
Winning works officially become part of the Fondation François Schneider contemporary art collection.
The Foundation covers all costs related to producing the winners’ exhibition at the Wattwiller Art Center.
A major group event and exhibition featuring the winners’ works is organized afterward.
For sculpture and installation projects that have not yet been produced, applicants may request a separate production budget of up to EUR 50,000 to realize the project.
Entries are evaluated by expert committees and then by an international jury composed of leading professionals from the fields of art, museums, and cultural institutions.
Eligibility criteria
Applications are open to visual artists of all nationalities.
Applicants must have reached the legal age of majority in their country.
Applicants must demonstrate a strong professional artistic background and/or hold a degree from an art school or college.
Applicants must provide evidence of recent and continuous artistic activity during the past 5 years, such as participation in solo or group exhibitions, publication of catalogs or artworks, or participation in artist residencies.
Artists may apply individually or as part of an artist collective.
Only one artwork or project may be submitted per year.
The submitted work must be entirely related to the theme of water.
