UCLouvain University in Belgium has opened applications for the FSR Post-doc 2027 – Incoming Postdoctoral Fellowships, one of the international postdoctoral fellowship programmes designed for outstanding researchers from around the world who wish to advance their research careers in Europe.
The programme offers 15 research fellowships for international researchers to work within UCLouvain’s research units and centres in Belgium. Projects may be carried out in all scientific fields, including science and technology, humanities and social sciences, and health sciences.
The fellowship lasts between 12 and 36 months, and the research period must be carried out in Belgium. The programme aims to promote international researcher mobility and to build long-term research collaborations and networks between researchers and academic institutions.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a PhD degree.
- The PhD must be obtained no later than May 1, 2027.
- No more than 5 years must have passed since obtaining the PhD as of February 5, 2027.
- The five-year eligibility period may be extended by one year for each childbirth or adoption occurring after the PhD was awarded.
- The fellowship is open to researchers of all nationalities.
- Applicants must meet the international mobility requirement, meaning they must not have resided or carried out their main activity, such as work or study, in Belgium for more than 24 months during the three years preceding the start of the project.
- The research project must be carried out within one of UCLouvain’s research units.
- Applicants from all academic disciplines and research fields are eligible.
- Applicants must also later apply for the Chargé de recherche programme of the F.R.S.-FNRS, which is expected to open in the second half of December 2026 and close at the end of January 2027.
