King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Saudi Arabia announces the opening of applications for graduate programs for students who wish to pursue master’s or PhD studies in engineering, sciences, computer science, mathematics, business, energy, petroleum, geology, chemistry, physics, and many other research-based and applied fields.

The university offers outstanding applicants the opportunity to receive a fully funded scholarship for full-time master’s or PhD programs, for students with strong academic qualifications and a high GPA. KFUPM also provides an advanced research environment and opportunities to work on research projects and participate in scientific conferences, according to specific conditions.

  • For regular PhD programs: applicants must hold a master’s degree in engineering, sciences, or a relevant field, with a GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 in both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
  • For research-based master’s programs: applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, sciences, or a relevant field, with a GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 for scholarship applicants, or 2.50 out of 4.00 for applicants without a scholarship.
  • Applicants must provide proof of English language proficiency according to the requirements of the selected program.
  • Applicants must submit academic or professional recommendation letters.
  • Some programs may require additional conditions depending on the academic department.

English Language Requirements

English language scores vary depending on the type of program:

  • PhD and direct PhD programs: a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 80, an IELTS score of at least 6.5, or a Duolingo score of at least 120.
  • Research-based master’s programs: a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 70, an IELTS score of at least 6.0, or a Duolingo score of at least 105.
  • KFUPM graduates and graduates of educational institutions in English-speaking countries such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand may be exempted.
