Opportunity description
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung is a German political foundation named after the first chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. KAS operates worldwide with the aim to promote democracy through dialogue, political education, and training. Since 1999, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) has been supporting an internship programme in partnership with the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) and the University of the Witwatersrand. This initiative offers selected candidates the unique opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in fields such as International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Economics, Law, Journalism, or other related subjects within the Humanities and Social Sciences. The programme allows students to combine academic learning with practical experience by working at SAIIA while completing their studies. Additionally, KAS also sponsors an internship programme in collaboration with SAIIA’s Cape Town office, extending its commitment to fostering the development of future leaders across South Africa.
Applicants for the KAS-SAIIA Cape Town-based scholarship must apply for and be admitted into a Master’s programme at the Political Science Departments of either the University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University, or the University of the Western Cape.
