Opportunity description

Academy of Korean Studies is offering Grants 2022: Scholarly Publication. This program provides variety of funding opportunities for researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea, to enhance the quality of Korean studies and globalize Korean studies. Anyone who are interested in this program and meets the eligibility is welcome. The program assists scholarly publication for the broad dissemination of original research results in Korean Studies (Scholarly Journal - Book Publication).


Benefits

Scholarly Publication Grant: $2,900 - $22,000

Eligibility criteria

  • Researchers affiliated with educational or research institutions outside of Korea
  • (Book Publication) Applicants must have a signed contract with an overseas publisher of scholarly books related to Korean Studies without receiving any other publication support from other institutions.

Required Documents:

  • Signed Application Form
  • Project Director’s CV
  • A copy of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the publisher
  • The manuscripts (Completion of manuscript 60% or more)

About Academy of Korean Studies:

Academy of Korean Studies is a South Korean research and educational institute with the purpose of establishing profound research on Korean culture. It was established on June 22, 1978, by the Ministry of Education & Science Technology. Activities by AKS range from conducting research on Korean culture from both humanities and social science perspectives to educating and training researchers and higher education professionals, translating and publishing Korean classics, and publishing and disseminating research results in the Korean Studies field. Its activity areas also include compiling and distributing major reference works such as the Encyclopedia of Korean Culture and the Digital Encyclopedia of Korean Local Culture, digitizing and disseminating academic information in the Korean Studies field, engaging in cooperation and exchange activities with academic institutions in Korea and overseas and conducting programs and projects aimed at improving the international community’s understanding of Korean culture.
