Opportunity description

The McCall MacBain Scholarship is open for applications for the 2027 cycle to students and graduates of all nationalities, including applicants from Arab countries, to pursue a full-time master’s degree or an eligible professional program at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

The scholarship combines full academic funding with a comprehensive leadership development program, professional mentorship, individual coaching, and access to an international network. It targets applicants who have a record of leadership and community service, and who demonstrate integrity, initiative, academic curiosity, and a desire to create positive impact.

Benefits

The scholarship benefits include:

  1. Coverage of tuition fees and university fees for the normal duration of the program.
  2. A monthly living stipend of CAD 2,300 during academic terms.
  3. A one-time relocation grant for students moving to Montreal.
  4. Possibility to request funding of up to CAD 5,000 to carry out a meaningful research or community initiative during the summer, if the student is not enrolled in a summer academic term.
  5. Participation in a comprehensive leadership development program.
  6. Access to a professional mentor, executive coach, and advisors.
  7. Attendance at seminars, workshops, site visits, and training programs.
  8. French language courses from beginner to advanced levels.
  9. Use of McCall MacBain House facilities dedicated to scholarship recipients.
  10. Coverage of travel costs to Montreal for candidates invited to final interviews.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet at least one of the following conditions:

  1. The applicant must be a current student and expect to earn their first bachelor’s degree by August 2027.
  2. The applicant must have earned their first bachelor’s degree within the last five years, meaning in January 2021 or later.
  3. The applicant must have earned their first bachelor’s degree before January 2021 and must be no more than 30 years old on January 1, 2026.

Applicants must also:

  1. Meet the minimum academic degree and language requirements for admission to the selected program at McGill University.
  2. Apply to an eligible full-time master’s program or eligible professional program starting in Summer or Fall 2027.
  3. Choose a study program consisting of 45 credits or more.
  4. Submit a separate application for admission to McGill University after submitting the scholarship application.
  5. Demonstrate academic excellence and clear intellectual curiosity.
  6. Have experience in leadership, community work, volunteering, or entrepreneurial initiatives.
  7. Obtain endorsement or nomination from their university when institutional endorsement applies to the applicant’s case.

The scholarship application usually includes:

  1. Personal and academic information.
  2. CV/resume.
  3. Unofficial academic transcript.
  4. Translation of the transcript into English or French if it was issued in another language.
  5. Short answers and personal essays.
