Opportunity description

Fiker Institute has announced the opening of applications for its Non-Resident Research Fellowship Program. This opportunity is designed for researchers, students, and individuals interested in knowledge production and analysis on issues related to politics, governance, climate, gender, the Gulf, and the West Asia and North Africa region.

The fellowship allows participants to work within one of the institute’s regional or thematic programs and produce 4 research publications over a 6-month period, such as policy briefs, reports, case studies, or analytical papers.

This fellowship is suitable for applicants who have a clear interest in research and analysis, strong English writing skills, and a desire to develop their research experience and publish within an independent think tank based in Dubai.

Available Programs

Applicants may choose one of the following regional programs:

  1. The Gulf.
  2. Europe.
  3. North and South America.
  4. West Asia and North Africa.

Applicants may also choose one of the following thematic programs:

  1. Climate Security.
  2. Diplomacy and Global Governance.
  3. Gender Equality.

Eligibility criteria

To apply for the Fiker Institute Fellowship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Have completed a university degree or be currently enrolled in a research-related field.
  2. Have an excellent level of spoken and written English.
  3. Have the ability, willingness, and sufficient time to prepare 4 research publications over 6 months.
  4. Have a clear research interest in one of the institute’s regional or thematic programs.
  5. Submit a research proposal in English.
  6. Submit recent writing samples in English.
  7. Commit to the fellowship requirements and publication submission deadlines.

Required Documents

  1. A research proposal in English of 750 to 1,500 words.
  2. The proposal must explain the applicant’s motivation for joining the fellowship and the selected program.
  3. The proposal must include 4 preliminary titles for publications the applicant wishes to work on during the fellowship.
  4. Two recent writing samples in English, each between 1,500 and 3,000 words.
  5. Official university transcripts.
  6. Certified translation of transcripts if they are not in English.
  7. CV.
