The Norwegian Storytelling Festival, Fortellerfestivalen, is accepting programme proposals for its 2027 edition, taking place in Oslo, Norway, from March 11 to 14, 2027, under the theme “Playing the Part.”
The festival is seeking performances and artistic projects that explore lies, illusions, imagination, pretence, and the roles people create for themselves—whether as tools for escape and deception or as creative forces that help envision a better life and a better world.
Oral storytelling is the central focus of the festival. However, proposals are also welcomed for lectures, workshops, interactive events, and projects that use storytelling in education, cultural heritage, and social contexts.
Participation offers a distinctive international opportunity for artists and storytellers to present their work to an international audience, engage in cultural and artistic exchange, and build professional connections with European artists and organisations.
This opportunity is not an academic fellowship. It is a paid international open call for selected artistic projects.
Accepted Types of Contributions
Applicants may submit proposals for:
- Oral storytelling performances for adult audiences.
- Short stories suitable for inclusion in a larger collective event.
- Lectures and presentations.
- Workshops.
- Interactive events.
- Educational projects based on storytelling.
- Cultural heritage and folk storytelling projects.
