Partially Funded Bachelor’s and Master’s Scholarships at the University of Turku in Finland

The University of Turku offers an Excellence Scholarship for international students who are required to pay tuition fees for English-taught bachelor’s and master’s programs. • €12,000 per year for several science, engineering, and health programs, including Biomedical Imaging, Drug Discovery and Development, Life Sciences, Information and Communication Technology, and Mechanical Engineering.
• €1,500 per year for the master’s program in European Languages, Cultures and Societies in Contact.

The Excellence Scholarship covers 50% of tuition fees. For example:

• If the tuition fee is €10,000, the scholarship covers €5,000.
• If the tuition fee is €12,000, the scholarship covers €6,000.
• If the tuition fee is €1,500, the scholarship covers €750.

Applicants must meet the following admission requirements:

• Apply to one of the University of Turku’s international bachelor’s or master’s programs.
• Be from outside the European Union, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland and belong to a category required to pay tuition fees.

Requirements for Master’s Students

• Complete 55 ECTS credits during the first academic year.
• Achieve a cumulative grade point average of at least 3 out of 5.
• Complete at least 4 ECTS credits in Finnish language studies before applying for the scholarship for the first time.
• Submit the scholarship application during the application period announced by the university in the spring semester.

Requirements for Bachelor’s Students

To receive the scholarship for the second academic year:

• Complete 55 ECTS credits during the first academic year.
• Achieve a grade point average of at least 3 out of 5.
• Complete at least 4 ECTS credits in Finnish language studies.

To receive the scholarship for the third academic year:

• Complete 110 ECTS credits during the first two academic years.
• Continue to meet the grade point average and academic progress requirements.
