Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) is offering one of the partially funded PhD scholarships for international students in Malaysia, the International Graduate Student Scholarship (IGSS) for the first semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. The scholarship aims to support outstanding international students who wish to pursue a PhD degree and conduct research at one of Malaysia’s leading universities by covering a significant portion of their tuition fees.
The scholarship provides a 30% to 50% tuition fee waiver and may continue for up to 3 years or 6 semesters, subject to the student’s academic progress and performance. Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Meet the general application requirements for international students at Universiti Putra Malaysia.
- Hold a Master’s degree.
- Be applying to or enrolled in an eligible PhD programme at the university.
- Not be receiving any other scholarship or financial assistance.
- Not be employed or working in any job at the time of application.
- Have at least one published research paper in an academic journal and/or a strong academic recommendation from an academic institution, such as from a university president, dean, or director.
- Obtain a support letter from their academic advisor/supervisor.
- Submit a letter issued by the embassy of the applicant’s home country confirming that they are not receiving any scholarship, financial assistance, or income from another agency or government entity.
