Opportunity description

UNFPA is seeking an International UN Volunteer to serve as a Donor Communications, Advocacy, and Knowledge Management Expert for a 12-month onsite assignment in Bangkok, Thailand (with the possibility of extension). The volunteer will develop and disseminate compelling communications materials to showcase the results of UNFPA initiatives funded by the Government of Australia, focusing on maternal health, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and gender-based violence (GBV) prevention.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Document stories of impact on Maternal Health, SRHR, GBV, and Harmful Practices programming in Asia Pacific.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans for DFAT-funded programs targeting SRHR Data, VAW data, child marriage, and female genital mutilation.

  • Create a range of communication materials including reports, case studies, infographics, and social media content.

  • Support systematic knowledge management and maintain microsites/pages for SRHR and GBV/HP.

  • Strategically disseminate information and communication products to key stakeholders and donors.

  • Contribute to transparency and accountability by clearly communicating the results achieved through the Australian Government's funding.

Eligibility criteria


  • Candidate must be a national of a country other than the country of assignment (Thailand).

  • Hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in International Relations, Social Sciences, Communications, or a related area. (A Bachelor's degree with relevant professional experience may be accepted).

  • Possess at least 10 years of professional experience in communications, advocacy, and knowledge management (preferably within international development, SRHR, or GBV).

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.

  • Proven ability to document impact stories, interview stakeholders, and translate technical programme results into accessible content.

  • Practical knowledge of design and editing software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva).
