Opportunity description
Philadelphia University invites Jordanian applicants to enter its annual awards for creative work in authorship, translation, arts, invention, computer software and renewable energy. Applications are accepted until the end of the year, and submitted works are assessed under criteria specific to each award category.
About the Philadelphia University Awards
The awards include Best Authored Book in the humanities or natural sciences, Best Translated Book in those fields, Best Computer Software, Best Invention and Best Artwork. There are also awards for Best Renewable Energy Research and Best Renewable Energy Invention, offered in partnership with the Khalil Salem Foundation.
The annual awards are open to professors, students and citizens. They focus on the originality, creativity and distinction of each submitted work compared with similar works. Literary works such as poetry, short stories and novels are excluded because many awards already exist in that field.
Award components include a certificate of appreciation, an honorary shield and a monetary award of 2,000 or 3,000 dinars. The page’s examples of 2024 winners show awards ranging from 2,000 to 3,000 dinars, including shared awards in some categories; these are examples from that awards cycle rather than a stated amount for every current category.
A permanent committee of five members from inside and outside the university oversees award matters. Members serve three-year terms, renewable by the University President. The committee reviews application forms and submitted work, and experts and specialists from different institutions and universities may be consulted to support accurate evaluation. Each category is assessed according to its own special criteria.
