Opportunity description

As part of the Doing Development Differently Campaign, Atlas Network invites its partners to apply for the Poverty & Freedom grants. This grant is sponsored by the John Templeton Foundation, among others.

In countries around the world, the prosperity that comes from enterprise and entrepreneurship is limited by bad economic policies. Atlas Network believes think tanks can be catalysts for policy reforms that ensure the economic rights that reduce poverty and promote prosperity. That is why Atlas Network is offering financial support to think tanks with ambitious but achievable plans to improve economic opportunities for low-income populations by changing the public policy and regulatory environment in their countries. There is no specific reform or issue area required for a successful application. Atlas Network encourages applicants to identify viable and worthwhile reforms that represent local priorities and local vision for change.

Benefits

Atlas Network suggests a request range of $20,000-$35,000, though other amounts may be entertained. Successful applicants will demonstrate a strategic understanding of optimizing and executing research, marketing, and advocacy plans for demonstrable change.

Eligibility criteria

Atlas Network anticipates that many reforms that fit within the enterprise and entrepreneurship theme will fall under at least one of the categories of the Ease of Doing Business Index, Doing Business North America, Economic Freedom of the World (EFW) Report, EFW North America, the U.S. Metropolitan Area Economic Freedom Index, or another related index.

Both international and United States partners are eligible. Matching preferred. Atlas Network is not endowed and accepts no government funding, so its capacity to give is restricted by its own fundraising success.

About Atlas Network:

Atlas Network, formerly known as the Atlas Economic Research Foundation, is a nonprofit organization based in the United States which acts as an umbrella for libertarian and free-market groups. It was founded as a group to assist with the creation of organizations for the market economy in developing countries.
