Opportunity description

The Royal Society of Biology annual photography competition invites amateurs to submit photographs on a theme; Interconnected. Life on Earth is connected and this year this competition gives you the chance to capture these interactions. Your photograph could depict the relationships between living things or of a living thing with its environment, impacts of biological processes as well as photos at the molecular or cellular level.

Benefits

If you win with competition, you will have:

  • Photographer of the Year (18 and over): £1,000 top prize. 
  • Photographer of the Year (under 18): £500 top prize.

Eligibility criteria

You should follow the following criteria:

  1. Entrants can enter either the Photographer of the Year category or the Young Photographer of the Year category.
  2. Each entrant may enter up to three photographs into the competition.
  3. Images should be high-resolution JPEG or PNG files and no larger than 8MB in size.
  4. Entrants must fill in all sections of the entry form.
  5. Photographers are requested to consider their own welfare and that of other individuals and they take care in their attempt to get their photographs. 
  6. Past photographs can be submitted to the competition.
  7. The competition is open to anyone except those involved in its organization, employees of the Society and their immediate family, sponsors of the competition, judges, and their immediate family.
  8. The competition is free to enter.
  9. Entrants must not be professional photographers.
  10. Entrants under 13 years of age must seek consent from a parent or guardian.
  11. Prior to submission, entrants must not have offered any of their entries for sale, or won or been runner-up in any other photographic competition with any of their entries.
