The Singapore Art Museum (SAM) has opened applications for the fourth cycle of the SAM Residencies 2027/2028, an international residency programme welcoming artists, curators, researchers, practitioners working in education and community engagement, and other creatives from around the world.
The programme aims to provide participants with space for independent research, experimentation, and the development of artistic, research, and curatorial practices, while also offering opportunities to engage with communities and audiences in Singapore. Participants may share their work and research during the residency through open studios, presentations, workshops, talks, and other public and experimental activities.
Available Residency Tracks
Applications are accepted under three residency tracks:
1. Artist Residency
Designed for artists and artist collectives interested in developing new artistic research, experimentation, and exploring new methods and approaches to artistic production.
2. Community & Education Residency
Designed for practitioners working at the intersection of artistic practice, education, and community engagement.
3. Curatorial & Research Residency
Designed for curators and researchers interested in developing new approaches to exhibition-making, curatorial practices, and research methodologies.

Eligibility criteria
- Applications are open to candidates from around the world.
- Applicants may apply as an individual, duo, or collective.
- The programme welcomes applicants working across all media and disciplines.
- Artists may apply for the Artist Residency.
- Curators and researchers may apply for the Curatorial & Research Residency.
- Practitioners working across art, education, and community engagement may apply for the Community & Education Residency.
- Applicants should have a strong interest in developing independent research or practice during the residency.
- Applicants must be able to connect their practice to one or more of the themes of the fourth residency cycle.
- International applicants may request a residency period ranging from 1 to 3 months.
- Applicants based in Singapore may request a residency of up to 6 months.
