The Schlumberger Foundation is accepting applications for the Faculty for the Future 2027 program, an international fellowship initiative designed to support women from developing countries and emerging economies who wish to pursue a PhD or postdoctoral research in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at leading universities and research institutions outside their home countries.
The program focuses on supporting women scientists and researchers and strengthening their participation in scientific fields. Particular attention is given to applicants who demonstrate a clear commitment to returning to their home countries or regions after completing their studies and contributing to scientific, social, and economic development.
The program also places importance on applicants who have teaching experience, links to academic or research institutions in their home countries, or involvement in encouraging women and girls to pursue STEM education and careers.
Funding Amount
The fellowship may provide up to:
- USD 50,000 per year for PhD candidates.
- Up to USD 40,000 per year for postdoctoral researchers.

Eligibility criteria
Applicants must:
- Identify as a woman.
- Be a citizen of a low- or middle-income country or an emerging economy where women are underrepresented in STEM fields.
- Not hold dual citizenship where one of the nationalities is from a developed country.
- Be pursuing a PhD or postdoctoral research in a STEM field.
- Have already applied to, been admitted to, or currently be studying at a host university or research institution outside their home country.
- Have an excellent academic record.
- Demonstrate a clear intention to return to their home country or region after completing their studies and contribute to its development.
- Have a record of teaching or academic work in their home country.
- Demonstrate a commitment to returning to an academic or research career, or to applying their scientific knowledge through entrepreneurship or the public sector.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and community engagement.
- Have a track record of encouraging young people, particularly women and girls, to pursue STEM fields.
