Opportunity description

Start IT is an incubation program and business plan competition across Egypt, offered by the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), affiliated with the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). The program targets entrepreneurs and owners of tech startups who have a business plan and a prototype or proof of concept, and who wish to turn their projects into successful startups.

The program provides financial support, incubation services, mentorship, workspaces, and networking opportunities with experts and investors to help winning teams develop their products and business models during the incubation period.

Target Group

  1. Entrepreneurs in Egypt.
  2. Owners of tech startups.
  3. Teams with projects related to Information and Communications Technology (ICT).
  4. Teams that have a prototype or proof of concept (POC).
  5. Projects that are scalable and capable of turning into startups.

  2. The program does not take any ownership stake in the company, meaning 0% equity.
  3. One-year incubation period.
  4. 24/7 office workspace with furniture and internet.
  5. Consulting services in technical and business areas.
  6. Mentorship from specialized experts.
  7. Technical support in artificial intelligence through training sessions and one-on-one consultations.
  8. AWS cloud service credits worth USD 10,000.
  9. Support in hiring technical talent through the program’s partners.
  10. Access to the TIEC alumni network.
  11. Networking opportunities with investors.
  12. Possibility to participate in local and international exhibitions.
  13. Additional benefits and services from Start IT partners and alumni.

Selection Process

  1. Register online and submit the business plan.
  2. Evaluation of the submitted business plans.
  3. Shortlisted teams are invited for interviews.
  4. Qualified teams move to the pitching stage.
  5. Teams deliver a 5-minute pitch before a specialized committee.
  6. Teams answer the committee’s questions for 10 minutes.
  7. Winning teams are selected to receive incubation and support.

The program accepts applications throughout the year, and applications are evaluated every 3 months.
