Competition in the Feild of Tech Innovation and the Chance to Win Valuable Prizes from Equals

Equals are delighted to announce the call for nominations for the 2022 EQUALS in Tech Awards. The awards are given every year to organizations and initiatives, both large and small working to help girls and women gain equal internet access, digital skills, and opportunities in the tech industry. It encourages all interested organizations and individuals to nominate their own or others' inspiring initiatives for an award in any of five competition categories.

The competition categories:

1. Access: Initiatives related to improving women’s and girls’ digital technology access, connectivity, and security
2. Skills: Initiatives that support the development of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) skills of women and girls.
3. Research: Initiatives prioritizing research on gender digital divides and producing reliable evidence to tackle diversity issues within STEM and computing fields.
4.  Leadership (in two subcategories):

• Initiatives focused on promoting women in decision-making roles within the ICT field.
• Initiatives promoting women’s leadership in technology SMEs (small and medium enterprises).

 If you among the winners, you will receive:

• A trip to a significant-tech event 
• The opportunity to network with a community of like-minded entrepreneurs, investors, activists, and leaders from intergovernmental agencies and the private sector.
•  You are invited to join an Advisory Panel that chooses future award winners.

Eligible initiatives and projects should:

• Be innovative.
• Reach girls and women in an impactful way.
• Have the potential to scale or be replicated once reconfigure.
• Adapted to other contexts.
• Work in collaboration with partners.

About Equals:

EQUALS began in 2014 as a collaboration between ITU and UN Women. The GEM-TECH Awards, as EQUALS was initially called, sought to “create a platform for advancing women's meaningful engagement with ICTs and their role as decision-makers and producers within this sector” by recognizing organizations that worked towards increasing women and girls’ presence in digital spaces, facilitating their access to new technologies and encouraging them to consider studies and careers in ICT.
