Opportunity description
The National Center on Disability and Journalism offers Katherine Schneider Journalism Award. The National Center on Disability and Journalism is now accepting entries for the 2022 Katherine Schneider Journalism Award for excellence in reporting on disability, the only national journalism contest devoted exclusively to disability coverage.
Benefits
- For professional journalists, winners will receive a total of $8,000 in cash awards. First-place winners in each category will be awarded $2,500 and invited to the Cronkite School for a public lecture or presentation in fall 2022. Second-place winners will receive $1,000 and third-place winners $500.
- The student prize amounts are $2,500 for first place, $1,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place.
Eligibility criteria
- For both prizes, work may have been published in digital, print, or broadcast formats.
- Entries are accepted from outside the U.S.
- The work submitted must be in English.
- For the student prize, you must have been an enrolled college student at the time of publication or broadcast.

The National Center on Disability and Journalism is headquartered at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. The goal of the NCDJ is to provide support and guidance for journalists as they cover people with disabilities.
