KKR Small Business Builders invites startups in the UAE to participate in the training program that supports companies in three ways:
- Provide access to capital through a series of $10,000 grants to selected small businesses.
- Offer technical support to small business owners through a range of mentoring and coaching opportunities with KKR employees.
- Connect small businesses to a network of resources and a thriving online community through the partners at Hello Alice.
Benefits
- Finalists will receive a $10,000 (USD) grant to be used for the benefit of the Finalist’s Business.
- Each Finalist may receive recognition on the Hello Alice, GEN, and/or KKR platforms.
- Each Grant is awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsors.
- Each Finalist is responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes, if any, as well as any other costs and expenses associated with grant acceptance and use not specified in these Official Rules.
- Sponsors cannot guarantee the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of any such efforts extended for the Mentorship Program.
Eligibility criteria
- The applicant must be the CEO, founder, CFO, or COO of the company.
- Must be a legal resident of the company's country.
- The applicant must be 18 years or older.
The business must meet all of the following criteria as of the first day of the Program Period:
- Must be a For-Profit Business operating in at least one of the following countries: Australia, China, England, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Singapore, Spain, United Arab Emirates, and/or the United States;
- Must be any business entity legally permissible in the applicant’s country of residence;
- Must have a minimum of five employees and a maximum of fifty employees;
- Must have annual gross revenues in 2020 of less than $7 million USD; and
- Must not be engaged in illegal, potentially illegal, or illegitimate activities as adjudged in Sponsors’ determination.
- Finalists will receive a $10,000 (USD) grant to be used for the benefit of the Finalist’s Business.
- Each Finalist may receive recognition on the Hello Alice, GEN, and/or KKR platforms.
- Each Grant is awarded “as is” with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsors.
- Each Finalist is responsible for all applicable federal, state, and local taxes, if any, as well as any other costs and expenses associated with grant acceptance and use not specified in these Official Rules.
- Sponsors cannot guarantee the effectiveness or ineffectiveness of any such efforts extended for the Mentorship Program.
- Sponsors may disqualify any Entry that contains any material that is indecent, hateful, discriminatory, defamatory, slanderous, libelous, unlawful, or otherwise inappropriate;
JUDGING CRITERIA:
- Demonstrated need for funds to recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and support business (30%).
- Clarity and feasibility of plan for the proposed use of funds to grow business and serve customers (40%).
- Demonstrated commitment of entrant to their community (30%).

Created as a key pillar of KKR's COVID-19 Relief Effort, KKR Small Business Builders (SBB) aims to support entrepreneurs and their small businesses around the world. The grants are designed to help business owners sustain their enterprises, maintain or create jobs, and spur economic opportunity as they respond to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and recover from its resultant economic dislocation.
