Opportunity description
The University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI) is a UK university located in northern Scotland, made up of multiple campuses and partner colleges across rural, island, and highland regions. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs, combining academic research with the local environment, and is known for blended learning (on-campus and distance) with a strong focus on quality and cultural diversity.
The Residency-Based Scholarship is offered to international students based on their place of residence in previous years. It applies to certain undergraduate and postgraduate taught programs delivered on campus. The aim is to reduce tuition fees for eligible students who meet the residency conditions.
Application Deadline
There is no single fixed deadline, as the scholarship is usually applied at the offer stage of the chosen program.
Students must first apply for their degree program, after which eligibility for the scholarship is assessed automatically when an offer is issued.
Benefits
Tuition fee reductions: for example, EU/EEA students may receive up to £3,000 per year for BA or BA (Hons) programs, and £4,000 per year for BSc or BEng programs. In some cases, the Honours Year may be tuition-free.
For postgraduate taught programs, there is a 25% tuition reduction for those who meet the residency requirement.
Additional discounts may apply for students from specific regions (e.g., South Asia) on certain undergraduate programs.
