The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, in partnership with UNICEF, announces the launch of the 2026 edition of the Youth on the Move programme. The programme aims to provide paid volunteer opportunities inside UNICEF offices for refugee youth, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons, and migrants.
The programme offers a 12-month practical opportunity for young people who face barriers in accessing internships and employment opportunities due to displacement or migration. It aims to empower them to gain professional experience within an international organization, contribute their skills and voices to support UNICEF programmes and serve communities, while promoting inclusion and equal access to opportunities.

Duties & responsibilities
- Contribute to preparing reports, collecting information, and documenting activities and results.
- Support communication and coordination with local partners and target communities.
- Participate in activities related to child protection, education, health, youth, or social inclusion, depending on the nature of the assignment.
- Provide the perspective of refugee, displaced, or migrant youth within UNICEF programmes.
- Support activities that promote inclusion, equality, and youth participation in decision-making.
- Help organize meetings, events, workshops, or awareness campaigns.
- Work within a multicultural team and contribute to achieving UNICEF’s goals and serving children and communities.
Eligibility criteria
- Priority is given to youth aged 20 to 32 years.
- The applicant must be a refugee, asylum seeker, internally displaced person, or migrant.
- The applicant must be residing in the country of assignment.
- The applicant must be legally eligible to work or volunteer in the country of assignment.
- The applicant must have the motivation and suitable skills to contribute to UNICEF’s work.
- UNICEF encourages applications from women and persons with disabilities.
