The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is offering a national volunteer opportunity to serve as an Executive Assistant with the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office in Jordan (UNRCO) in Amman. This is a full-time assignment lasting 4 months, from September 1 to December 31, 2026.
The volunteer will work directly with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator, providing executive, administrative, protocol, and logistical support. The role also includes assisting with the coordination of meetings and official visits, as well as communication with government entities, diplomatic missions, and United Nations agencies. The assignment requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment when handling sensitive information and responsibilities.
The opportunity is fully in-person in Amman and falls under the category of a specialized national volunteer assignment, with a full-time work schedule.

Duties & responsibilities
Key volunteer responsibilities include:
- Manage the Resident Coordinator’s calendar and organize appointments, meetings, and official engagements.
- Coordinate logistical and protocol arrangements for meetings, events, and official visits.
- Communicate with diplomatic missions, government entities, and United Nations agencies.
- Prepare and compile briefing materials and documents required for meetings and official missions.
- Draft official correspondence, meeting minutes, memos, and professional documents.
- Provide translation support for official correspondence when needed.
- Arrange the Resident Coordinator’s travel and missions, and follow up on bookings, reports, and travel-related claims.
- Update contact lists for partners, UN agencies, and members of the diplomatic corps.
- Assist in organizing official visits and high-level events.
- Manage and maintain files and documents, including confidential records through Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
- Support the organization of UN Country Team (UNCT) meetings, events, and official United Nations observances.
- Follow up on deadlines, commitments, decisions, and required action points.
- Support the preparation and updating of materials and information published on web pages or in brochures.
- Assist with daily administrative tasks related to contracts, time management, budgets, and human resources when required.
- Collect and analyze data and assist in preparing presentations and reports to support planning and decision-making.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be between 18 and 60 years old.
- Have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Office Management, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
- Have experience in one or more of the following areas: executive support, administration, coordination, programme support, protocol, or office management.
- Previous experience providing administrative or executive support to senior officials or senior management is preferred.
- Have experience organizing high-level meetings, official visits, missions, conferences, or events.
- Be able to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
- Experience preparing official correspondence, briefing materials, and meeting minutes is considered an advantage.
- Experience working with government entities, diplomatic missions, or international organizations is considered an advantage.
- Previous experience with the United Nations, international organizations, development organizations, or humanitarian organizations is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint, is preferred.
