Opportunity description
The United Nations Volunteers Program announces a volunteer opportunity in Sudan as a Facilities Management Assistant. You will report to the Head of the Facilities Management and Environment Unit to support various operations and assist in the effective and efficient implementation of facilities management services in UNISFA.
Duties & responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Receive, analyze and review service requests, including equipment installations.
- Determine work priorities, plan, prepare work orders, and follow up on service complaints.
- Analyze and interpret resource consumption data using statistical techniques for water, electricity and fuel consumption.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret various trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Assist the Facilities Management Supervisor in managing accommodations for civilians and uniformed personnel.
- Conduct technical assessments of existing buildings and infrastructure.
- Assist in supervising minor repairs, clean-up operations and waste collection including grounds maintenance throughout the mission area.
- Preparing and writing purchase orders for equipment, materials, spare parts, etc.
- Review and evaluate offers and coordinate with the procurement unit.
- Supervising the construction, repair, maintenance and installation of conventional buildings, temporary buildings and infrastructure within UNISFA premises using FRIM data.
- Oversee and coordinate maintenance services for facilities, systems and equipment throughout buildings through the use of iAuditor and other task platforms.
- Develop a quality assurance plan to provide a systematic way to monitor facility and camp performance.
- Participate in developing risk assessments and risk management plans using resource consumption data.
- Assist in developing contract compliance checklists and implementation plans for facility and asset care management contracts.
- Use resource consumption data as input to the risk management planning process.
- Identify the root causes of poor performance and suggest corrective actions to improve operations.
- Review maintenance records and work orders from Comindware and establish a mechanism to address any problem that may arise in the work.
- Keeping records of all existing memorandums of understanding and ensuring that they are constantly updated.
- Preparing a weekly and monthly report on water, electricity and fuel consumption.
- Providing necessary support in office administration, records management and check-in/check-out process for employees.
- Any other duties assigned to you.
- Actively participate in UNV activities (for example in events celebrating International Volunteer Day).
- Communicate and build relationships with local organizations, various groups and individuals, and support and/or participate in local volunteer initiatives.
- Contribute articles/writings about your field experiences to UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.
- Promote or advise local groups on the use of online volunteering or encourage individuals and relevant local organizations to use the UNV online volunteering service whenever technically possible.
- Encourage and support your co-workers, fellow UN Volunteers and community members to play an active role in peace and development activities on a voluntary basis.
- Strengthening UNISFA health services through various quality assurance mechanisms.
Eligibility criteria
You must have:
- You must be between 18 and 80 years old.
- You must be a citizen of any country other than the country of appointment.
- 5 years of experience in engineering, data analysis, management, project management and construction.
- Experience in reporting and data analysis.
- Practical experience in analyzing large amounts of data sets and the ability to create reports and dashboards on ERP.
- It is preferable to have analytical, planning and organizational skills.
- It is preferable to have experience in providing services in the field of engineering.
- Preferably have experience in international operations in a post-conflict environment.
- Driving license for cars with manual transmission
- Preferably, you should be fluent in English.
- Technical/vocational diploma, high school diploma, or equivalent.
- Technical or vocational certificate/diploma in the field of engineering technology, construction, project management, statistics, or a related discipline.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of sustainable facilities management, maintenance and repair solutions.
- Ability to simplify complex information and communicate this information to less technically trained team members.
- Ability to adapt to find creative solutions according to different contexts.
- Show pride in work and accomplishments.
- Ability to meet deadlines and achieve results.
