Opportunity description

Stadtjugendring Esslingen e.V. is offering one of the funded international volunteering opportunities for 2027 under the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) through the Volunteer in the Youth Office of SJR Esslingen project, which will take place in Esslingen, Germany, from March 1, 2027 to February 29, 2028.

The project aims to support children and young people, improve their living conditions, and strengthen their participation in society through educational, cultural, and recreational activities, as well as support for youth initiatives and local associations.

The volunteer will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in office work, event organization, community outreach, and direct work with children and young people. They will also participate in all stages of planning and implementing activities and will be encouraged to propose new ideas that promote cultural exchange among participants.

Duties & responsibilities

  1. Organize youth activities: Assist in planning and implementing educational, cultural, and recreational activities and events.

  2. Provide administrative and office support: Help with office tasks and prepare the materials and supplies needed for activities.

  3. Support promotion and community outreach: Help raise awareness of the organization’s projects and encourage children and young people to participate, including through appropriate media and communication channels.

  4. Participate in youth initiatives: Engage directly with participants and suggest new ideas and activities that promote creativity and cultural exchange.

Eligibility criteria

  • Have an interest in working with children and young people and participating in community activities.

  • Be motivated to work in an office environment and contribute to organizing projects and events.

  • Have good computer skills and basic office skills.

  • Have a good command of English.

  • Basic knowledge of German is preferred.

  • A driving license is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Be willing to take part in some physical tasks, such as carrying boxes and equipment used for activities.

  • Have an active and sociable personality and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people.

  • Media and communication skills are considered an additional advantage.

  • Meet the general age and residency requirements of the European Solidarity Corps, which typically targets young people aged 18 to 30.
