Opportunity description

GENCSEN KULUBU DERNEGI announces an individual volunteering opportunity in Ankara, Turkey, under the OUR FUTURE IS NOW 3 project. This youth project aims to bring together young people from European countries with local youth in a multicultural environment based on friendship, teamwork, and mutual respect.

The project focuses on using sports, cultural, and educational activities to promote peaceful coexistence, reduce stereotypes, support personal development, and encourage children and young people to reduce their dependence on digital devices.

Volunteers will participate in organizing creative workshops, conversation clubs, theatre and art activities, sports and cultural events, in addition to supporting the education of refugee children and taking part in visits to a nursing home to promote intergenerational dialogue.

Duties & responsibilities

  1. Organize and facilitate creative workshops for children and youth.
  2. Participate in conversation clubs and educational activities.
  3. Support theatre sessions, art activities, and cultural activities.
  4. Implement sports activities that encourage an active lifestyle and reduce screen time.
  5. Support the education of refugee children.
  6. Organize community and cultural events.
  7. Participate in visits to a nursing home to promote intergenerational dialogue.
  8. Support the building of friendships between local youth, refugees, and international participants.
  9. Contribute to activities that promote peaceful coexistence and reduce prejudice.
  10. Gain experience in designing Erasmus+ projects, teamwork, and youth participation.

Eligibility criteria

  1. The applicant must be between 18 and 30 years old.
  2. The applicant must be interested in youth work and community activities.
  3. The applicant must be willing to work with local youth and refugee children.
  4. The applicant must be open to intercultural learning and sharing their own culture with others.
  5. The applicant must be willing to learn the Turkish language and culture.
  6. The applicant must be able to work independently and within a diverse team.
  7. The applicant must be flexible, open-minded, and adaptable.
  8. The applicant must be ready to actively participate in community activities.
  9. The applicant must be interested in reducing digital device usage and encouraging active lifestyles.
  10. The applicant must be able to present creative ideas and contribute to implementing project activities.

Training During the Activity

Volunteers will participate in the official European Solidarity Corps (ESC) training course, while developing skills in intercultural learning, leadership, conflict resolution, and crisis management. Turkish language lessons focused on speaking skills will also be provided, and volunteers will receive a Youthpass certificate at the end of their participation.
