The World Food Forum Youth Film Festival 2026 invites young filmmakers from around the world to submit short films highlighting issues related to agrifood systems, such as food security, climate, oceans, food heritage, human health and nutrition, and the role of women in developing food systems. The festival aims to use the power of visual storytelling to raise awareness, inspire change, and support innovative solutions for a more sustainable food future.

- Best Film on Food Heritage: USD 500
- Best Film on Climate: USD 500
- Best Film on Oceans: USD 500
- Best Film on the Role of Women in Agrifood Systems: USD 500
- Best Film on Food Processing or Food Innovation: USD 500
- Best Film on Health, Well-being, and Nutrition: USD 500
Benefits
- An opportunity to participate in an international film festival affiliated with the World Food Forum (WFF).
The application is completely free. - Each winner in one of the categories receives a cash prize of USD 500.
- Winning films will be screened during the main World Food Forum event at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome, Italy.
- An opportunity to gain global exposure and connect with filmmakers, experts, and people interested in food and sustainability issues.
- Short fiction or documentary films may be submitted.
- Films shot on smartphones are accepted, provided that they are complete and ready for submission.
Eligibility criteria
- Applicants may apply as individuals or as a team of individuals.
- Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application.
- Applicants from all countries around the world are eligible to participate.
- The film must be an original work, and the applicant must hold full rights to it.
- Only one film may be submitted per applicant or team.
- The film must be between 5 and 40 minutes long.
- The film must be related to the topic of agrifood systems.
- The film must be complete and ready for screening, not a draft or preliminary version.
- If the film is in a language other than English, embedded English subtitles must be included in the film.
