Writing Competition and the Chance to Win a Prize of US $150 from Intrepid Times

For the latest writing competition, Intrepid Times is inviting travelers and writers from all countries, at all levels of writing experience, to a competition; Unexpected Adventures. This your chance to tell your first travel story about an unexpected adventure or other exciting stories on this theme.

If you win this competition, you will have one of the following awards:

• 1st Prize for one winner: $150USD.
• 2nd Prize for three finalists: 
• $50 USD.
• Their work will be published on Intrepid Times.

You should follow these terms:

1. Entry is open to both new and established writers from around the world.
2. By entering Intrepid Times competitions, you accept the conditions of entry.
3. Your work should be unique and original and not published anywhere else.
4. Stories should be between 1000 and 1500 words.
5. Stories need to be in English and submitted as a Word Doc attachment.
6. Winners are contacted by social media, email, or mail within 5 business days of selection.
7. The judges’ decision is final and binding.
8. All prize winners agree to the use of their name and suburb for publicity and competition purposes, without compensation.

Please note:

• Winners and runners-up will be announced in late August or September 2021.
• Payment for winners/runners-up will be sent by PayPal on the day of the article’s publication.
• If your story is selected, you will need to provide at least one photo to accompany your story when published.

Judging Criteria: 

Your work will evaluate based on the following criteria:

1. The originality.
2. Factual.
3. Voice, and a satisfying story that captures attention and pulls the reader along at every step.

About Intrepid Times:

Nathan Thomas founded Intrepid Times in 2014 as a vehicle for sharing stories from the road and as an excuse to meet and interview his favorite writers. His own travel writing has been published in places like Roads and Kingdoms and Outpost Magazine.
