The Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (IDEO) is a research and academic institute based in Cairo, Egypt. It was officially founded in 1953 and specializes in the study of Arab and Islamic heritage, with a particular focus on primary texts and sources from the early centuries of Islamic civilization. The Institute supports academic research in fields such as Qur’anic studies, exegesis, Islamic philosophy, theology, Islamic jurisprudence, history, Sufism, and the Arabic language. It also seeks to promote dialogue and mutual understanding between cultures and religions through academic research and scholarly cooperation.
