Program Description
The University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria (FH Upper Austria) offers a wide range of practice-oriented and career-focused bachelor’s and master’s programs, with a strong emphasis on connecting academic study with the job market through hands-on projects, internships, and collaboration with companies and research centers.
The university offers more than 70 bachelor’s and master’s programs and works with over 600 corporate and research partners, in addition to more than 250 partner universities in 67 countries.
Its programs are offered across several campuses in Austria, including Hagenberg, Linz, Steyr, and Wels, with a number of programs taught entirely in English.
Admission Requirements
Admission requirements vary depending on the program and level of study, but generally include:
For bachelor’s programs: holding a secondary school qualification that grants access to university education and is equivalent to the Austrian Matura.
For master’s programs: holding a relevant bachelor’s degree, usually worth at least 180 ECTS credits, or an equivalent university qualification.
Providing proof of proficiency in the required language of instruction.
For English-taught programs, a B2 level is usually required, such as IELTS 6.0, TOEFL iBT 78, or another accepted equivalent certificate.

A motivation letter may be required, particularly for some bachelor’s programs.
Documents issued in languages other than German or English must be translated and may also need to be legalized or officially authenticated depending on the country of issue.
