GEMS United Indian School – Abu Dhabi is offering a full-time position for an Islamic Studies Teacher in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The position is aimed at qualified and experienced teachers of Islamic Studies who are able to prepare engaging lessons, manage classrooms effectively, and use technology and digital tools in teaching and assessment.

The school is looking for a teacher who can create a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that helps students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, independence, and self-confidence, while complying with GEMS policies related to student safeguarding and well-being.

Duties & responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging lessons aligned with the curriculum and school standards.
  • Using a variety of teaching methods to meet students’ different learning needs.
  • Using technology and digital tools to enhance the learning experience.
  • Integrating critical thinking, problem-solving, and inquiry-based learning into teaching.
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment.
  • Monitoring student performance, documenting achievements, and preparing progress reports.
  • Establishing clear classroom rules and maintaining high standards of behavior and discipline.
  • Managing the classroom in a way that ensures student safety and active participation.
  • Implementing school policies related to child safeguarding, discipline, and student well-being.
  • Building positive relationships with students and supporting their social and emotional needs.
  • Participating in extracurricular activities, school events, and educational trips.
  • Complying with GEMS Education policies, procedures, and its Code of Conduct.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • Hold a recognized teaching qualification related to the subject.
  • Have the following qualifications:
    • A Bachelor’s degree (BA).
    • A Master’s degree (MA).
    • A B.Ed in Islamic Studies.
  • Ensure that their qualifications are properly attested and officially recognized/equated in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Have at least two years of proven experience teaching Islamic Studies.
  • Possess strong subject knowledge.
  • Have effective classroom management skills.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Be able to use digital tools and educational technology in teaching and assessment.
