Opportunity description
The United Nations Children’s Fund – UNICEF is offering a consultancy opportunity to work with the Migration and Displacement Hub in the field of Internal Displacement and Durable Solutions, with the aim of supporting and strengthening UNICEF’s institutional approach to internal displacement and the protection of the rights of displaced children.
The assignment aims to review and update UNICEF’s Institutional Action Plan on Internal Displacement, while also supporting several priority workstreams related to migration and displacement. The goal is to ensure that UNICEF’s policies and programs reflect the latest evidence, expertise, and lessons learned from country and regional offices.
The consultancy has a global scope, and the consultant will collaborate with UNICEF country and regional offices, headquarters, and relevant global teams.

Duties & responsibilities
The consultant is expected to contribute to:
Reviewing and updating UNICEF’s institutional action plan on internal displacement.
Supporting the development of UNICEF’s approach to durable solutions for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Analyzing experiences, evidence, and lessons learned from different programs.
Conducting consultations with country and regional offices, as well as headquarters-based teams.
Supporting the development of institutional frameworks and deliverables related to displacement.
Preparing and drafting high-quality documents, policies, and knowledge products.
Supporting advocacy and programming efforts that address the rights and needs of children affected by displacement.
Coordinating work across multiple units, sectors, and geographic regions.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
Hold a Master’s degree in one of the following fields or a related discipline:
International Development.
Humanitarian Affairs.
Human Rights.
Migration or Displacement Studies.
Social Sciences.
Public Policy.
International Relations.
Law.
Have at least 8 years of advanced professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
Internal displacement.
Forced displacement.
Durable solutions for displaced persons.
Child rights.
Humanitarian and development programming.
Policy and advocacy.
Or another closely related field.
Have strong knowledge of internal displacement and durable solutions frameworks.
Experience in reviewing or developing institutional strategies or action plans.
Possess strong skills in:
Qualitative analysis.
Facilitating consultations.
Synthesizing information and drafting findings.
Writing and editing.
Planning and delivering assignments remotely.
Coordinating with multiple teams, stakeholders, and geographic regions.
Have a good understanding of child rights and UNICEF’s mandate in humanitarian and development contexts.
Be fluent in spoken and written English.
Knowledge of another official United Nations language is considered an asset.
Previous experience with UNICEF, another United Nations agency, or inter-agency processes is considered an asset.
Field experience in internal displacement contexts, as well as knowledge of results frameworks and indicators and experience developing advocacy materials or knowledge products, are considered desirable qualifications.
